About interest rates & bonds
Treasury yields set the baseline cost of borrowing in US dollars. Short-dated yields such as the 2-year move closely with expectations for Federal Reserve policy; longer yields such as the 10-year also reflect inflation expectations, growth and term premium.
Yields move inversely to bond prices. The difference between long and short yields — the slope of the yield curve — is widely watched as a signal about growth and policy.
